Efficiency from an energy project

This project is a success. That basic consideration for the project to improve energy efficiency in small and medium enterprises in Vietnam (PESCME) by the global environment fund through the Development Programme of the United Nations, the Prime Minister approved and assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology for implementation. The overall objectives of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in five industries, including brick making, ceramics, pulp and paper, textile and food processing, through the elimination of barriers to apply advanced managed experience and application of energy efficient technologies to use energy economically and efficiently. 

After five years of implementation, so far, the project has completed all objectives and targets laid down, typically: 543 projects achieve savings and energy efficiency in five industries, total energy savings due to implementation of the project is 232,000 tons of oil equivalent (TOE), reducing total greenhouse gas emissions is 944,000 tons of CO2, energy costs, reduce the average production cost is 24, 3 percent. This project was to connect and support 25 provinces and cities participating in the activities of saving and using energy efficiently, 12 cities and provinces have issued the policy, institutional to support SMEs, 25 service organizations to save energy to support 500 SMEs for implementation of energy saving projects. Specially, the project has operated successfully, guarantee fund of 1,7 million USD loans. Through the guarantee Fund, there are 51 SMEs loan guarantee for investment in new technology, with a total investment of 82 billion, 44 billion and 30 billion loan guarantee. PECSME project has successfully implemented 11 demonstration projects on energy saving technologies and solutions, as a basis for promoting replication to other businesses.
